School Project: Da Vinci Tank

My son had a school project to make a model out of one of Da Vinci's inventions.  He chose the tank and you can see the results to the left.  The project was for his French class so I'm not sure why Da Vinci, other than he did live in France for a bit.  Oh well, I don't get the new math either.

Sean is planning to use the tank with his warhammer armies so he'll be concocting some rules over the weekend.

The tank is made from a disposable pie tin and came out very nicely.  It's also nice that my frequent justification for wargaming expenditures - "it's educational" actually has some merit to it now!

  1. Very good work. A chip off the old block.

  2. What a cool choice for a school project. Who can deny that Da Vinci was one of the greatest inventors - as well as artists. And you son gets to game with it too! Dean

P.S. I've always wanted to get models of Da Vinci's war inventions - even if some may have never made it past the drawings.

  3. Thanks for the nice comments. Sean really enjoyed building the tank and reminded me one can build some pretty cool using household items - pie tins, popsicle sticks, straws and a scotch tape dispenser.

Until this year, French had always been "that subject" - the one he both struggled with and really disliked. This year has been a big turn around due to a really great teacher.

  4. Formidable - avec Italien nes par? Nonetheless that's one wicked looking tank - your son's done a great job. It'd be fun to game it in some alternative late Renaissance scenario, perhaps fighting for King Henri's French in northern Italy?

    Cheers,
    Doc

  5. I don't get the French link with Da Vinci either, but since this year's French teacher has managed to improve both my son's attitude and grades around in French (from C's to A's) she can do no wrong!

I believe his Warhammer Chaos army will find a good use for that tank. It may not be historical but it's still gaming.
