The first of several 28mm War of 1812 sailing ships has been assembled and is awaiting priming. This an American Gunboat from Laser Dreamworks and was both easy and fun to build.
I still need to finish the spars but will do that further down the construction process.
A whole bunch of stuff on cleanup and priming stage including a largish order of Front Rank Napoleonic Brits and Portuguese troops. There are also a good number of those wonderful Perry black boxes - I wonder what's inside?
I managed to cut all the wood I need for the drawers on the workbench and hope to get those assembled today also.
This blog will will contain my rather pedantic ramblings on my experiences within the miniature war gaming hobby. There will be informative how-to’s, thrilling battle reports and thought provoking editorials. I fully expect that history will one day view the contents of this blog on par with Homer’s Illiad or Newton’s Principalia. Or it's a complete waste of time.

That horrible white stuff they use for packing no doubt :-)
The ship looks excellent, what colours are you thinking for it??
The "Perry Cotton" is a bit painful to remove but does make good blast / smoke markers
Ray - I have not idea how I'm going to paint her. Most US ships in the War of 1812 had black hulls with white stripes. Gunboats were not very well kept so she'll likely look very messy.
I like the gunboat, it looks very nice. What figures and rules are you going to use with it?
I'm working through my US Navy vs. Tripoli pirate game right now, but I'm thinking about some War of 1812 stuff too.
